Historic Landmarks Commission

Public Meeting Notice

December 11, 2017

6:30 p.m.

Shepherdstown Town Hall

104 North King Street

At its’ regular monthly meeting, the Historic Landmarks Commission (HLC) will accept input on the revision of Historic District Design Guidelines.
The HLC is responsible for preserving Shepherdstown's historic and architectural heritage and establishing standards for any changes to historic structures.  The Commission identifies and protects buildings and other properties that have historic or cultural significance through reviews, expert advice, and ordinance.

The HLC received a grant from the West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office to update the design guidelines for making exterior changes to historic properties within the historic district.  The town has contracted with the Mills Group to collect public input and update the guidelines.  The public is invited to a lively session on Thursday, November 16 to share ideas and provide input.
A copy of the current guidelines is online at: http://www.shepherdstown.us/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/HistoricGuidelines-HLC-approved-March-2010-with-revision-up-to-March-2013.pdf
